Innodent has been a local laboratory for more than two decades. Why haven’t you heard of us? Because we’re small. Many describe us as a ’boutique’. Our technicians were in the business long before the modernization of the industry. They honed their skills when crowns were each hand waxed, cast and finished. Back when gold crowns were commonplace, and alloy prices weren’t astronomically high. As new technology was introduced to the market, we bought in- but slowly, and with hesistation. Our system worked well and as they say, “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”. It took us years to perfect the art of laser scanning, CAD and milling but we still aren’t all in. While many labs have gone completely digital, that is impression free and often model free, our experience has shown us that keeping some traditional steps in the lab results in a much better product. Do we accept intraoral digital scans? Yes. Do we prefer them? In rare instances. We’ve compared hundreds of traditionally impressed cases to their digital versions and have found the accuracy of the time honored PVS impression to be unrivaled. Can we fabricate a solid zirconia crown from a digital file and send it to you without ever having put it on a physical model? Absolutely. But we’d rather not. In this business, time is money. We can only fabricate so many units a day. Much like you can only see so many patients a day. We believe that having the ability to check, double-check and dare I say… triple- check? things like marginal adaptation and proximal contacts on a solid model, is key to crowns that consistently seat without adjustment. Why take a chance when you can make sure it’s right before it ships. Of course not every case goes smoothly every time but our remake and adjustment rates are well below 1%, which means that you’re going to be satisfied more than 99% of the time you seat our crowns. We aren’t the cheapest lab around, and we aren’t the fastest lab around… because, quite honestly, it’s difficult to produce impeccable crowns in just a few day’s time.
